Public, Administrative & Regulatory Law

Judgment. Fortitude. Stámina. Before the regulatory State.

We advise individuals and companies in their relationship with the Public Administration, so that their projects can be fully realized. We advise from the acquisition of assets and the obtaining of necessary permits through to the defense against audits, bureaucratic barriers, sanctioning proceedings, and judicial review arising from actions by public entities and regulators that affect our clients' rights and interests.

The Firm

A firm built on technical judgment and fortitude.

Stámina is born from a clear conviction: faced with the regulatory power of the State, our clients need sharp legal judgment and the persistence to sustain it strategically all the way through.

Our practice covers every front of that relationship: the acquisition of assets and real estate; obtaining permits, licenses, and concessions at every level; defense in audits, oversight, and sanctioning proceedings; the elimination of bureaucratic barriers; the drafting or review of regulatory proposals; and the defense of these matters before the Judiciary.

We do not shy away from difficult cases. We sustain them with technical skill, rigorous analysis, and the stamina that gives this firm its name.

1

Judgment

Rigorous, strategic legal analysis.

2

Fortitude

The strength to sustain difficult cases for as long as it takes, without yielding to attrition.

3

Boldness

The nerve to challenge arbitrary exercise of State power.

Why Stámina

Stámina comes from the Latin stamina—the plural of stamen—the threads of the loom. In Roman mythology they were the threads of life spun by the Parcae, the three goddesses of fate: one spun the thread, a second measured its length, and a third cut it. The strength and length of that thread determined each life. From that root the word passed into English, where stamina names the energy and vigor to sustain prolonged effort without tiring: the strength to reach the end.

For a public law firm, the meaning is exact. Faced with the power of the State, outcomes rarely come quickly; it takes judgment to see the path and fortitude to walk it to the end. That is the firm we set out to build. And the accent mark in the name is deliberate: it roots the word in Spanish and, at the same time, gives it greater sonic and visual force.
